I just recently got the "Unreadable disc" error for all games, from Mass Effect to Halo, to Gears to even Rainbow Six Vegas. So, we sent it back and it will be fixed. In the mean time, we got an Xbox 360 Elite.

I've had my xbox 360 since about 1 month after original release date. I HAVE GOTTEN THE RING OF DEATH about 2 months later, but i didn't return it, i just turned it off for a day, and ever since i have no problems (except it scratched up one of my games really bad, due to my little brother moving the system while it was on) but other than that, it's been going strong, no send backs or anything!

Sigh, my xbox just broke down 3 months ago as well but i had issues with the warranty (an error on there part) and and to wait an extra 2 months before they fixed the error, and sent me my xbox, i have a life but i feel empty without it, lol
i aggree with you, xbox needs to get there sh!t together, its amazing machine but if they ever want to battle the ps3 head on they got to make a full proof console, (did you know at an convention where xbox displayed there console it got the red ring of death lol) anyways gl with getting your console fixed, lot of other xbox 360 owners are in the same situation, all it requires is patience and you'll be able to frag people on cod4 like you used to.

I don't know why the 360 crashes so much though. I got mine on launch and it's had zero problems but my friend has had constant crashes scince he got one for xmas
Disc tray?
It's not that hard to get to.. what is it doing.. can you describe the problem?
whenever it tries to load data of the disc itll quit the game 25% of the time, forcing you to eject the disc and put it back in ugh ugh ugh.
I've had mine for two years now, and it's been fine. I wouldn't mind it dying though. I bought the core, so if mine broke, it would be replaced with the Arcade version instead. They don't sell the core anymore, and the arcade has wireless controllers.

damn, xbox's really are crap ent they! I've had the disc drive problem, and if you send it to microsoft, you have to pay, unless that refurbished one came with a warrantee, in which case you should be ok. but mine broke after a year, so i rang microsoft, and i had to pay, £60!!!! "extended warrantee only for 3RLOD"

Happened to me too. I thought they'd COMPLETELY FIX IT, but some people can get The Red Rings 1, 2, or even 3 more times!

I had to send mine in once because it wouldn't show anything on the screen of any game except for a bunch of white spinning dots on a black background. This happened to me a month before christmas and they took forever getting me a new one, but luckily I got it back by christmas. But either way, microsoft needs to stop making things that break in like 3 seconds
