Sorry to hear that.
Good luck getting a new one. By the way, getting refurbished ones are almost prone to dying again.
There are 8 species of badger, in 3 families: Melinae, Mellivorinae, Taxideinae. The Asiatic stink badgers of were formerly included in the Melinae, but recent genetic evidence indicates that these are actually Old World relatives of the skunks.

yes i kinda just pointed that out in the post above.
Try a PS3 then. I have no problems with my PS3 since I bought it about a year ago. Cool exclusives are also coming to PS around this summer.
I have a ps3.
That's why it is better to fix it yourself.
It costs about 30 dollars if you have none of the parts or tools needed on your own.
The problem originates with a flaw in the design of the heatsink supports. They are these little X-shaped mounts on the underside of the motherboard, and they tend to flex it when it gets hot. Over time, this causes solder points to break, and you get the 3RLOD.
There are tutorials floating around that tell you how to do it, so far I've fixed two boxes, my own and a friend's. Mine has been fixed for a year now with no problems since.

Hope that helps.
My new problem isnt with the heat sync its with the disc tray.
I still have it since a year and a half and still nothing. I'm under constant fear though, it's not a good feeling. :(
Its going kabooom.
honestly microsoft has never made a product that works properly more than 70% of the time.
What about Vist....nevermind.
haha, get a WII lol
A Wii is so fucking hyper-active. If you have a motion sickness, thats the correct console xD
Wiis cant read dual layer disc smash brothers will destroy them.
I've owned my 360 for two years and it took that long to get the ring of death. The trouble with Microsoft is that they don't build to last, so they make more money that way.
Gutted, i hope it was insured :/
You should get a PlayStation 3 or a Wii. Both last a long time (unlike the other system *ehem*.). I've had my PS3 for a while now, and not a single problem so far. Plus, you can get most of the same games. (no halo 3, though...)
Weird, I have a 360 for 2 years and it hasn't ever failed on me...
I've returned 5 tines now.
granted their hardware is shit, but their games and online service is unmatched.
otherwise I would've bought a Ps3 that makes exactly the same games, and never crashes, but cost way more and has shitty online.
The ps3 is quieter as well, it doesn't sound like a jet like a 360 does.
Seriously, is there SOMEONE with a 360 that didn't die?
i had my 360 for a year or two before the A/V chip went bad. it took a while to get repaired, but it's fine, now. i think they even threw in a new disk drive, because it is much quieter than it used to be. or maybe they just gave us a new 360 :P
I'm at the same point as you. I start up crackdown, it freezes.
I turn it off, turn it back on...
BAM! red ring.
yep, microsofts hardware is terrible me an my brother were considering purchasing another console...
Got two red rings of death for my 360 before D:
mine hasn't died yet.. but all this talk has me worried
maybe microsoft hates you, I got my 360 at xmas and it hasn't had a problem. except the few times I've tipped my 360 or knocked it over and it scratches the disc, but thats what warranties are for
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAA!!!!
360 owners never learn. ^_^
Eredar
hehe, i dropped a small TV on one and it gave me the red ring :P
